PDR or Body Shop: Which One Should Fix Your Lubbock Hail Damage?

An honest comparison of paintless dent repair versus traditional body work for Lubbock TX hail jobs — cost, paint, resale, warranty, and when each one applies.

After a South Plains hailer, you will hear two repair pitches — paintless dent repair or full body work. Here is the unfiltered version of which one your vehicle actually needs.

Paintless dent repair (PDR)

PDR uses calibrated rods and reflection lighting to push each dent out from behind the panel. Nothing is sanded, nothing is repainted, and the factory finish stays untouched — which is why it protects resale value and keeps your manufacturer paint warranty alive. It is also faster and cheaper.

Traditional body and paint

When the clear coat is cracked, the dent runs across a body line, or the metal is creased past what a rod can reach, repaint is the right answer. That means filler, sand, primer, base, clear, and a downdraft cure.

How to know which one fits

  • Hail dents with intact paint → PDR (covers about 95% of hail jobs we see)
  • Cracked paint, deep creases, or plastic trim damage → body and paint
  • Collision impact with frame or structural damage → body and paint

We run both lines in the same building at 43rd Street, so the recommendation is never colored by what we are trying to sell. The free inspection tells you which one your vehicle actually needs.
